The Issues

Government efforts to spy on American Muslims include tracking by law enforcement agencies and pressuring community members to monitor and report on their fellow worshipers.

This has created a culture of suspicion that undermines trust among law-abiding American Muslims, and communities associated with Muslims, without helping identify terrorists. This government imposed stigma is counterproductive; instead we should treat Muslims with basic respect. We can all do something to challenge policies that paint Muslims as suspects without evidence of wrong-doing.
